Vibrant. Proud. Diverse. Growing. These words are used to describe the community that includes the Villa Heights, Belmont, NoDa, Optimist Park, and Plaza-Midwood neighborhoods. These descriptions might be some that you offered yourself when friends and family asked, “How did you pick your home?”
Nothing is more vibrant than a school, and the founders of the VERITAS Community School believe this community deserves a school that they can be proud of, reflects its diversity, and supports students as they grow into capable, creative, and confident adults. VERITAS will serve grades K-5 and plans to offer students a well-rounded experience including Everyday PE, Zumba classes, technology and training for the family, high academic standards for ALL students, and a peaceful learning environment.
Imagine children once again biking and walking to school with their siblings and their neighbors. Envision regular time for movement and play and a school garden that not only teaches but also feeds. Visualize your school as a community center, a place to gather, to learn, and to be together.
Join the conversation about VERITAS Community School, a charter school that is tuition-free, welcomes all students, and is being designed for the children of this community, the heartbeat of the Queen City. VERITAS Community School plans to open August 2015, but they need your support.
On Sunday, October 27th, please come to NoDa Brewing Company at 6:00 PM for a community conversation about VERITAS Community School. They want to hear YOUR ideas and questions and are eager to share more information about what could potentially be the return of our community school!
